What to Do in Greater Palm Springs This Fall

• Modernism Week — October 15–18: One of Palm Springs’ signature events returns for four days celebrating midcentury modern architecture, art and design. More than 50 activities are planned, including home and architectural tours, presentations, parties, design experiences and the Palm Springs Modernism Fall Show.
• Catch a Coachella Valley Firebirds game: Hockey returns to Acrisure Arena with the Firebirds' home opener on October 2 against the Ontario Reign. Home games continue throughout October and November, making a night at Acrisure Arena an easy addition to a Fall desert getaway.
• Palm Springs Pride — November 6–8: The 2026 celebration fills downtown Palm Springs with live entertainment, parties, a festival marketplace and the Pride Parade, scheduled for Sunday, November 8 at 10 a.m.
• La Quinta Art Celebration — November 12–15: The nationally recognized art celebration returns to La Quinta, bringing artists and collectors together for four days in one of the valley's prettiest settings.
• Cathedral City Hot Air Balloon Festival — November 20–22: This year's three-day festival includes balloon launches and tethered rides, nighttime balloon glows, live entertainment, food trucks, an artisan market and a drone light show. Events take place in Cathedral City and Rancho Mirage.
• Explore the outdoors again: October marks the return of prime hiking weather. Indian Canyons begins daily operation October 1, offering everything from an easy one-mile walk through Andreas Canyon to longer trails through spectacular native palm oases.
• Ride the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway: After its scheduled annual maintenance closure through October 4, the Tramway is tentatively scheduled to reopen October 5. In about ten minutes, you can travel from the desert floor to the much cooler San Jacinto Mountains, with observation areas, dining and miles of hiking trails at the top.
• Golf, shop, dine and do absolutely nothing: Not every vacation needs an itinerary. Spend the morning on one of the valley's golf courses, wander El Paseo, have lunch outside, return home for a swim, and watch the mountains turn pink over cocktails. Sometimes that's the entire plan—and that's perfectly fine.

The calendar gets even busier as Fall progresses. The WTA Finals are scheduled for November 8–15 in Indian Wells, while Greater Palm Springs is also welcoming the new Coachella Valley Lakers NBA G League team this November. Thanksgiving week brings NCAA Division I basketball to Acrisure Arena as part of the Acrisure Series.

Weekly traditions return as well. Palm Springs VillageFest continues Thursday evenings, and certified farmers markets operate around the valley as the cooler season begins.
